RESIDENTIAL

Residential work has been a sacred trust for our firm over the years. The Home as Sacred Space recurs as a guiding principle for these seven homes which are featured. Of these four, have received awards and recognition for their design and incorporation of sustainable environmental components.

PRESERVATION

Preservation work is an immensely important part of our work. These projects encompass the full range of Architectural Preservation work, from careful in-kind replacements of an historic structure’s components to sensitive additions made to a historic building that is reflective of the current day’s materials and building typologies. These projects are located in New York and throughout New Mexico. These historic projects include 19th century Churches, Warehouses to Spanish Colonial Haciendas and several remarkable residences located in Santa Fe’s Historic Districts.

sacred DESIGN

Sacred design has long been a fascination of ours. From studying the history of Sacred Architecture to the honor of working on these six religious structures, the theme of Sacred Geometry, Sacred Traditions, Sacred Liturgy and Sacred Materials has been a joy to incorporate into our client’s desires for a truly Sacred Space.Take a minute to write an introduction that is short, sweet, and to the point.

ADOBE

Adobe is a passion John Barton has had his entire life, growing up in a home built in the 1930s with 12 inch thick Adobe brick walls. Adobe was many properties that bend to its favor. It is inexpensive to make an adobe brick, using in most cases the dirt found nearby. Adobe is highly sustainable and low impact form of construction. The bricks are sun dried resulting in a low carbon footprint. Adobe has sculptural qualities like no other construction material, lending itself to sculpted forms complementary to the surrounding hills, mesas and desert forms.

EDUCATION

Our Educational projects are the most numerous of our groupings, with well over 100 to date. These span the United States from Connecticut to school sites throughout New Mexico. The vast majority of these have been for the Rio Rancho School District, which is located in the growing city of Rio Rancho just north of Albuquerque. Educational projects encompass a very wide range of our services, including programming, all phases of architectural design, HVAC systems, campus master planning and roof designs. A multifaceted use of materials and wayfinding systems has been featured throughout these important community placemaking spaces and sites.

PUBLIC WORKS

Public Works have also been an integral part of our Architectural Practice for the past forty years. These include Fire Stations, Libraries, Visitor Centers and Rest Areas. Featured here are the Tierra Amarilla Volunteer Fire Station and two Visitor Centers and Rest Areas. Also included is a Library project for the Pueblo of Santa Clara.
