Located only 5 minutes from the famous Ojo Caliente mineral springs, this Solar Adobe Artistas Studio on 10.5 acres combines contemporary lines with traditional Northern New Mexico building materials. This home won the 2012 USGBC Award for best Water Conservation. It has features an open interior space with two 300 s.f. porches, Adobe exterior walls, interior and exterior adobe plaster, polished Flagstone counter-tops, recycled glass wall tile, polished tan concrete floors and 24 gauge metal roofing. Also incorporated into the design are rainwater catchment and grey-water irrigation systems. This beautiful house is located on the high desert plateaus of northern New Mexico at a 6,700 ft. elevation. The use of traditional mud plaster helps blend the building into the surrounding high desert landscape. The building has one large studio space, with bathroom, closet and mechanical room.
