Barton was the Architect-in-Residence at the Cathedral for seven
years. During
this time his responsibilities included a wide range of projects. The
ongoing construction of the two front towers and the work involved
with the Cathedral Stoneyard was the single largest effort during this
period. Other
projects included designing an AIDS memorial, a Compass Rose
Memorial to Canon Edward West, Master Planning for the Cathedral Close,
parking and roadway improvements, Code Compliance work, lighting and acoustical
improvements, Gift Shop improvements, Cathedral School improvements,
restoration and repairs to the Church and overseeing a competition to
design a Cathedral Bioshelter.
