DESIGN: This site is located on the high desert plateaus of northern New Mexico at a 6,700 ft. elevation. The high desert temperature extremes were taken advantage of with the use of a super insulated wood frame solar design, which keeps the house cool in summer and warm in winter. The use of carefully chosen stucco colors helps blend the building into the surrounding high desert landscape. In keeping with northern New Mexico building traditions, all hallways are forbidden, having a generous exterior portal for circulation and gathering.
