DESIGN: This site is located on the high desert plateaus of northern New Mexico at a 6,700 ft. elevation. The high desert temperature extremes were taken advantage of with the use of a traditional adobe construction and a passive solar design, which keeps the house cool in summer and warm in winter. The use of traditional mud plaster helps blend the building into the surrounding high desert landscape. The building has one large studio space, with necessary bathroom, closet and mechanical rooms.
