PROGRAM: The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs retained our firm to work on the following alterations and repairs to this important Santa Fe Museum Facility:

  • Replacement and upgrading of the roofs
  • Recommendations regarding storm water drainage issues

DESIGN: Historic Preservation and Southwest Desert Environmental design elements were addressed and employed throughout these assignments.  This facility, dating from the 1920s, is a significant Santa Fe landmark.  It was carefully restored and upgrading with the utmost sensitivity to its historic and fragile nature, while keeping an eye on energy saving improvements to the roof areas. This wass emphasized through the use of the following design elements:

  • Solar Reflective new roofing TPO material
  • Relationship with the Southwest's traditional and sacred building forms, shapes, materials and colors
