Alternative Electrical Generation Systems

Our office has designed several Alternative Electrical Generation systems using both Photovoltaic Panels and Wind Turbine Generators.   These systems work well for all building types, but need careful site analysis, for solar and wind selection. The New Mexico Dept. of Transportation requested that we provide 20% of the Facilities electrical needs for the Manuelito and Glenrio Rest Area and Visitor Centers. For the Manuelito site, we specified a large solar array placed on the roof  of the Visitor Center. At the Glenrio site, on the Texas-New Mexico border, wind is the logical choice for electrical generation. We therefore specified 11 kilowatt wind turbine generators at this site.
