Passive Solar Heating and Cooling

Passive Solar heating and cooling is one of the most effective design practices for minimizing the use of fossil fuels in building heating. It is also a very good way to keep a space cool in summer. Through the orientation of buildings along an east west axis, the use of appropriate overhangs for shade, careful window placement and room proportions, almost any building type can take advantage of this centuries old technique. We have designed numerous residences, fire stations, and public buildings using Passive Solar heating and cooling design parameters.
